Dr. Henry Svec is a registered psychologist who supervises staff together with other psychologists at the Dr. Svec Clinics. Therapists, other than social workers (who are registered with their own college), work under the direct supervision of a psychologist.
Treatment sessions, contact notes, assessments, and reports are reviewed by a supervising psychologist. Our staff's qualifications and training are listed in the waiting area of our offices and will be provided to you at the time of booking. If you are working with a therapist or psychological assistant, you may ask our front desk to schedule an appointment with their supervising psychologist.
Web counselling sessions will primarily be conduced by video conferencing. Telephone counselling will be available as a backup in the event of any disruption in regular service. For therapy sessions provided in person, please go to our "Intake Adult" form.
The number of sessions required will depend on progress within treatment. It is understood that all information discussed within therapy will be kept confidential, unless circumvented by legal authority, expressed written consent of the patient, or where harm to others or the patient may result when information is not disclosed to a third party.
By scheduling an appointment for web counselling, I acknowledge the following:
I have no current plan to harm myself or someone else.
I am at least 18 years of age.
Therapy may cause emotional upset. If I become a threat to myself or others, I agree to contact my local Emergency Services immediately.
I will conduct my portion of the videoconference in a private setting where my discussion of confidential information will not be heard by others.
I understand that in the event of any imminent threat to myself or someone else, my therapist will take action by contacting emergency services to prevent the risk of serious harm.
